5/29/2024 Update on Classes:
Michael and I have secured the two (2) DOJ newly required Certifications and have re-submitted to the California Department of Justice and will be resuming both Initial and renewal Classes. The first 8 Hour Renewal Class will be held on June 6, 2024. We realize this has been very frustrating for our students and we greatly appreciate your patience. 12/24/2023 update on SB2 Injuction:
Governor Newsom signed SB2 into Law approximately 12 weeks ago drastically altering the CCW Process as well as including unconstitutional ‘sensitive areas’ making it literally illegal to carry outside of your home. Late last Weds a Federal Judge issued a temporary injunction halting the implementation of SB2’s ‘sensitive areas’, but the Injunction does not halt the balance of SB2 being implemented on 1/1/2024. To make matters worse, 2 weeks ago the CCW Instructors in the state received a letter from the DOJ indicating that the DOJ would be de-certifying all NRA Certified Instructors on 1/1/2024. This will eliminate over 90% of the CCW Instructors making it difficult if not impossible to secure your Certificate.
While we will take all necessary steps to secure a Certification under the new Regulations, I suspect it will be quite some time before we can comply with SB2 and re-start the Classes. If your Permit is expiring in the next 90 days, I do have one last Class scheduled for 12/28/2023 with a few openings left. 209-770-5550. Thank you!
Senate Bill 2 (SB2) Update: At this point most if not all of the shooting community in California is aware that Govenor Newsom signed SB2 doubling the train times and including ‘sensitive areas’ that are already being challenged in Court. There is another requirement under SB2 that may end up being a ‘monkey wrench’ in the system. In SB2’s language there is a two-sentence paragraph stating that the Class will include an hour of Mental Health instruction, but the instructors are not able to teach that Hour. We have requested clarification and guidance with no valid answers as of this writing. I will update you once I have valid answers.
We are fast tracking all Initial and Renewal CCW Classes in order to process as many new and renewal CCW’s Students before the end of the Year when the new requirements kick in.
